02Mission

Start small.
Think massive.
Build for scale.

Weavolv starts with focused products, but every product is built with the potential to become much bigger. Small beginnings are a strategy, not a limitation.

  1. 01The dream

Improve the world through software. Grounded in real products, one genuinely useful thing at a time.

  2. 02The goal

A portfolio of software products that together reach a billion people.

Across the portfolio. Not one product.

  3. 03The strategy

Build focused software products, discover what works, and scale the winners.

  4. 04The method

    Test. Build. Evaluate. Switch.

This is not a collection of side projects. The portfolio is the result of the strategy, not the strategy itself. Every product is built as a real software asset, with the potential to reach massive scale, create substantial value, and grow into a significant business of its own.

  • Technology is the tool.
  • Products are the vehicle.
  • Value to people is the outcome.
  • A billion people is the long-term scale.

What you can count on

Did we make someone’s life better?

That is the question behind every product. Not how the code was written, not how clever the architecture is, but whether the person using it got something real.

  • Free means useful

A free tier you can actually live in, with a usage bank instead of a countdown timer.

  • No tricks

Clear prices, cancel anytime, and nothing standing between you and the exit.

  • Private by default

FolderSmith needs no account and no card, and your folders never leave your machine.

  • Built to last

Products fund the next products, so nothing you rely on depends on a single bet.

What better looks like

  • Time saved
  • Frustration removed
  • Complicated made simple
  • Things stay organised
  • More control
  • Something accomplished
  • Less digital chaos
  • New capabilities

03How we build

One loop, run again and again.

Idea to decision, then the next idea. The loop is how we find what genuinely improves someone’s day, not just how we produce software. Products are experiments with a budget, a metric and a deadline.

01of 07Idea

A real problem

Idea

Start from a problem people already have, not from a technology looking for a use.

“Who has this problem today, and what do they do about it?”

The question at every stage

“Did we make someone’s life better?”

Yes
Invest and scale.
No
Change it, pivot, or kill it.

04Platform

Every product makes the next one easier to build.

Serious engineering is a big part of who we are, and it is the means, not the end. We build the shared foundation carefully because it lets us make better products faster, and makes the tenth product cheaper than the first.

  • Accounts and plans, solved once

A new product gets sign-in, plans and usage limits on day one, instead of rebuilding them from scratch.

  • Monetisation that fits the product

Usage banks for utilities, subscriptions for services, lifetime plans with time-boxed AI. Same engine, different shapes.

  • One design foundation

Every site and app starts from the same design foundation, so a new product begins with a UI instead of a blank page.

  • Tested like it matters

Every product inherits the same test harness, including end-to-end checks of the flows people pay through. New products start tested.

05Principles

Six lines we keep coming back to.

  1. 01

Technology is how we build. Value is what we deliver.

The customer should experience the result, not the complexity behind it. Architecture matters only when it makes a product better, faster, more reliable or less frustrating.

  2. 02

    Free should be genuinely useful.

Usage banks instead of countdown timers. People get real value first, and a clear reason to upgrade.

  3. 03

Every product is a school for the next product.

Freemium, billing, onboarding, App Store review, support: learned once, reused everywhere.

  4. 04

Use AI where it makes the product better.

LinkVolv has AI because organising context needs it. FolderSmith does not, so it has none.

  5. 05

One thing at a time gets the most of us.

The portfolio can grow large. The attention does not spread thin: at any moment, one or a few products get the highest priority. Focus is what turns small opportunities into serious products.

  6. 06

Do not change the dream. Change the strategy.

The dream is to improve the world through software. The strategy is software assets. The mechanism is experimentation.

06The name

Weave. Evolve. Repeat.

Ideas, technology and human needs, woven into products people actually use, then evolved through what we learn.

07Company

Independent. Founder-led. Building in the open.

Weavolv is a small, independent software company that repeatedly builds software businesses. We build the products we wanted to exist, charge fairly for the parts that cost us something, and keep going for a long time. The portfolio is what the system produces, not the point of it.

The code that can be open is open: LinkVolv ships an open-source client and FolderSmith publishes its releases on GitHub. The company stays quiet on purpose. The products do the talking, and the people using them are the first threads in something built to last.

Did we make someone’s life better?

Every product gets that question. The honest answer decides what we do next.
